I'm finally willing to wear foundation!

I have never worn foundation in my life. I hated being able to feel it on there, & I hated the effort of washing it off every night & how long it took to put on. This has solved all those problems. Applying the foundation takes maybe 30 seconds. I don't feel like I have anything on my face at all. Family was telling me how nice I looked, but when I told them I was wearing foundation they were surpised. It looked so natural. And this stuff won't hurt your skin if you leave in on at night. So no big hassle when you're tired & want to go to bed. The starter kit is the way to go; I was going to try just the foundation & was glad I got the starter kit. It's a really good deal over buying the things seperately as well.
Second times'a charm!!!!

I can certainly related to all the 20 plus posted comments about this product both good and bad . I too suffer from post acne, large pores, and oily skin. The first time I tried BareMinerals I was like a few of you, couldnt see a difference, didnt know if I was putting it on right, didnt have the right color (being that I am a woman of color) thought it was a was of money. And you know what I threw away the first foundation jar never to buy it again, until I saw the infomerical about the product and of course, a shopping channel that will remain nameless that sells this particular product. So I decided to try one more time. What made me a believer the second time around was that I made sure of a few things:
Always use "Mineral Veil" first as a primer.
Then use "Warmth" as a concealer, highlighter and any other imperfections.
Make sure you always "Buff, Tap, Swirl" everything time. It is a certain way you have to work into the skin.
And lastly to use "Mineral Veil" as a finishing powder.
I will say this, I do disagree with Leslie saying all you need is a little of the powder and that's that. No makeup artist worth their grain can ever create such a perfect canvas for the skin just by using one product and very little of the product. Not going to happen. You may need a several "swirls, taps, buffs" to get the look, you may need to use moisturizer in the powder so your face won't dry out. You might need to custom blend several shades to get that color you always wanted. It happens.
All I am saying is that the product does work, if you are willing to work with it, unless you have a severe reaction to it by all means get your money back. I gave this product a second chance and now that Leslie has added three new shades for women of color I am glad I did!!!!
A must buy!

This is the best thing I have ever bought. I can look good and natural at the same time, it is amazing.

Now, I have to be honest. When I saw this product on tv on commercials and the advertisement on the channel QVC, I didn't really all the way believe it. But at one point I got so frustrated about my makeup (I have tried almost everything that's possible for foundation), I went right online one night and order it. It has a return guarantee, so what did I have to lose? And everyone has said such great things about it, I just had to try it. If I didn't like it, I'd just take it back....

When I first received it in the mail my first reaction was--"it is this small?" Really, it's smaller than I thought, but I figured out why after I used it. I think this stuff will last me for years! I only have to use just a tiny bit to cover my whole entire face--it is sooo amazing.

My old makeup was awful! Let me explain. I have very oily skin and acne scars, so finding the right makeup is difficult. I have worn liquid makeup for quite some time now, and let me tell you it was not my solution. I put it on and two hours later it has already melted off my face. To cover my acne scars, I first have apply concealer, but that only made my face look the more "unnatural." And since my face is oily, liquid only makes my face look shiny and greasy, plus unnatural.

When I put Bare Minerals on my face, I was so shocked.
(1) It took such a tiny amount to cover my entire face
(2) It looks so natural, I don't even look like I'm wearing any makeup, yet my face looks flawless
(3) It gave me a little glow
(4) It actually covered my acne scars!!! (not the pimples though)

I love it!! The price was so worth it and I will never, ever wear liquid again!

This stuff is a dream. I love that it also has sunscreen. And just the fact that I'm not putting harmful ingredients on my face makes it all so wonderful. I don't have to worry about the effects of liquid makeup--blemish causing and early wrinkles. It's safe to actually sleep in this stuff!!! Wow. How natural can you get?

Bare Minerals is so wonderful. It makes your skin flawless but natural. If you were like me and don't have a makeup solution, what do you have to lose to try this great stuff? It's money back guarantee, and I'm sure you'll love it. Every female should try it!
Truly AMAZING product!

Reviewer: laeta904,
After hearing good reviews from my sister, I recently purchase a Bare Escentuals (BE) starter kit. I was excited about the possibility of such easy makeup application; however, I was VERY skeptical that I would be able to conceal eye circles, scarring, and blemishes with foundation powder and a special concealer brush. Yeah Right! I was fully convinced that if I liked the mineral makeup, I would use the foundation powder but still have to carry my trusty liquid concealer.

Imagine my surprise after the first application to find that not only was the foundation light and comfortable, but the "special" concealer brush ACTUALLY WORKED! I didn't even have to use a separate concealer color (I am very pale, so most concealers are darker than my skin tone rather than the recommended lighter concealer color), I just used the same foundation powder color, and my face looked truly FLAWLESS!

All I had to do was apply all my face makeup (foundation, bronzer, blush, finishing powder "Mineral Veil") and use the concealer brush to dot and blend foundation powder on blemishes/circles/etc as the last step. (Some people apply concealer prior to other face makeup, but that didn't work great for me. Also, I know they tell you to apply light layers and buff completely, but this is TRULY the trick to mineral makeup application. Plus, using just a tiny bit makes the product last a LONG time, which allows me to feel a little better about spending so much money on makeup.)

I was AMAZED at how much coverage the "powder" provided (the mineral makeup foundation is a very creamy powder, but that was a pleasant surprise as well, as it provides much more coverage than a standard loose powder) while still feeling light, comfortable, and natural. I am finding that the application of mineral products is just getting easier and easier, and my skin tone has improved dramatically over the last couple weeks of using such a natural product.

The coverage is truly amazing, and at least for me, it stays put pretty much all day. I also doubted that the SPF 15 could really protect my face, especially since my pale skin burns REALLY easily. But after a day in the sun having forgotten sunscreen, my shoulders were burned, but my face was burn-free. INCREDIBLE!

I realize that mineral products do not work as well for every person/skin-type, but I highly recommend trying mineral makeup (either BE, very well known, or Everyday Minerals, who offer a free sample kit) as a more natural makeup choice with surprisingly full coverage. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!
Feels AND works good!

I am in love with this product! I have always hated using foundation, but powders never had the coverage I needed. The first time I tried Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals, it looked terrible. But after a little practice, it is by far, the best foundation I have ever used. I have very blotchy skin, with dark red patches and acne scars. This product gives me the flawless skin nature didn't!

I have tried several of the competitor's products that claim to be mineral foundation, but none of them worked as well as the Bare Escentuals. In fact, none of them worked at all for me!

Be sure to follow the Swirl, Tap, Buff instructions, or it will not work right! I have also learned that using lotions of any kind before this product, will cause clumping in that area. I use Mineral Veil before the foundation when I have recently used lotion, or need extra coverage.

EDITED 6 months later - December 30, 2009

I have since stopped using this product, but still stand behind this review. I have battled cystic acne and acne vulgaris for 20 years or more (NOT caused, or even aggravated by this product). I have some signifigant scarring as a result of this. As my skin has aged, the scarring has become more noticeable. The Bare Minerals powder worked great to cover the redness of these scars. But since the surface of my face is no longer perfectly smooth due to these scars, the powder actually makes them MORE noticeable. I was very sad to give this product up, and I still think longingly of it while slathering on my goopy foundation.

So basically, Bare Minerals is wonderful, and I still highly recommend it. But if you have pits from severe acne scarring, it may not be the product for you.
BareEscentuals Foundation works great for women of color too

Bare Escentuals Foundation works great for women of color too
My complexion is a little lighter then Oprah (Winfrey), about average brown and I'm wowed by Bare Escentuals Foundation in "Warm Tan". It applies easily, matches my skin tone, has better coverage then my liquid and feels like your not wearing it. "I GET IT...................."

I've been wearing liquid makeup for many years on my oily, sensitive, large pored, tendency to break out skin, hating it. But, since I wanted coverage for under eye darkness and discoloration after acne healing, etc I continued this sad arduous process every day.

I apply the Bare Escentuals Foundation after washing with a pore cleansing wash and applying toner. I then use a moisturizer (Always use a moisturizer or primer for your particular skin type under the Bare Escentuals Foundation. Bare Escentuals "bareVitamins - Skin Rev-er Upper" is a little too harsh for me due to my skin regimen), make sure it's fully absorbed, then swirl, tap and buff.

The coverage is better then my liquid makeup, cover stick and pressed makeup compact put together because it stays on until I take it off (usually at the end of a 12 to 14 hour work day), and I'm not blending anything in with my fingers or sponges. What a relief. I don't fight with my makeup anymore.

I wasn't a believer over night. Since I didn't have time to visit a Sephora salon I ordered a total of three different Bare Escentuals Foundation colors ("Deep", "Dark" and "Warm Deep", although the names sound dark the graphics online looked like a match) before I found a match for my skin tone. The more I swirled, tapped and buffed, the darker those three colors became with a silvery sheen. I was ready to give up but the fourth skin tone color was the winner. I can swirl, tap and buff the "Warm Tan" Bare Escentuals Foundation until I've covered all my imperfections and achieve an even toned look and the color still matches my skin.

I blot my skin of excess oil several times a day and I initially had no compact to carry the Bare Escentuals Foundation so I was amazed that most of the makeup stayed on my skin and it looked great.
This was not the case with my liquid makeup even when used with my pressed makeup compact.

I now have the Bare Escentuals "Flawless Face Case" to carry the Bare Escentuals "Tinted Mineral Veil" for a translucent matte finish over the Bare Escentuals Foundation after blotting excess oil away.

I can recommend Bare Escentuals Foundation to anyone who wants makeup that has great coverage, stays on until you take it off, and feels like your not wearing makeup at all. It never clogs my pores and after just a few weeks my skin feels so much smoother and looks better.

The key is finding the correct foundation color.
I find that some people that don't think the coverage is great may have a BE foundation that is too dark or light for there skin tone. So they are less likely to use as much as they may like to hide any imperfections.

I would suggest going into a Sephora salon to have the foundation color applied or ask to buff some foundation colors on the back of your fist. This way you can see the skin tone color you feel comfortable with.
Also go to Sephora's website to see examples of all the Bare Escentuals Foundation skin tone colors.

I like BE foundation because no other makeup has ever made me look this good. I get compliments all the time now.

I have researched other brands of loose foundation makeup and find they have a limited product line. Women of color come in so many different complexions; some of these other companies only have 5 or so skin tone colors available.

I also feel better using a well known product I can order from Sephora or Amazon. Should I have any problems or complaints a successful company will be more likely to take care of me.

Makeup as Art

In my over twenty years of trying numerous foundations, I have yet to see anything cover and perfect all while allowing the natural radiance of your skin to shine through. This powdery foundation is like powdered gold. Not only do the crushed minerals shimmer ever so delicately, they are magical once they touch your skin.

The lightness of the product is fascinating and you feel as if you are not wearing foundation. The free feeling and the beautiful complexion you achieve through the use of Bare Escentuals may make you want to try all their products. The kits are a good way to introduce your skin to the products because they include the brushes you need to apply this powdery foundation.

The Artist in you will love the way you apply this makeup. Each container of powder has many possibilities. You can blend more warmth or add a touch of summer shimmer. Once you have your foundation on, the possibilities are endless.

This product is free of preservatives, talc, oil, fragrance, dyes and irritating chemicals. Once I put on this makeup, I thought I was dreaming. My skin adores this product and liquid makeup is history! The mineral veil also keeps away shine and is the perfect compliment to this foundation. This makeup and the delicious Lush bath products are my finds of the year. I take a bath with one of the bath ballistics and then apply this makeup and feel like the world is a more beautiful place. Bare Escentuals will add the magic of radiant skin so your natural beauty is never hidden from the world.

I was in a hotel in Las Vegas before an important interview and I was again frustrated with my make-up. Nothing I applied really looked "natural". After many years I found a color to match my skin (I have extremely fair skin), but the look of the foundation was cakey after a while. I have trully tried everything and every make-up out there, including make-up brands only found in Europe and nothing worked. It was the only time I gave in to an infomercial because I was simply tired and fed-up. I REALLY REALLY LOVE THIS MAKEUP!!! I now have a "naturally" beautiful skin and people can't tell I'm even wearing make-up most of the time. A few pointers:
1-Make sure you layer it. It's very important to conceal everyting first! If you apply layer after layer with the concealing brush, the make-up actually looks natural and the concealing part looks nice. Then you can use the big brushes for the all-over foundation.
1(a)-You can just apply in small sections. I usually dab the quantity needed just for my cheeks, then for forhead a.s.o. Trying to cover everything all at once may not be effective because you may need different coverage levels for different areas.
2-You need to use a good moisturizer. My skin is extremely dry and even flaky, so the moisturizer helps the make-up really set.
3-You don't always have to wear the mineral veil. If I'm having one of my "alligator skin" days, I just use the foundation and my skin is not flaky-miraculous!
Good luck!
Great for sensitive skin!

I'm allergic to most make-ups and lotions and stuff but I tried this product and have never looked back! It has great coverage and doesn't bother my skin at all, the way some supposed hypo-allergenic make-ups do. Highly recomended
Love it!

I love, love, love this makeup! It makes my skin virtually flawless even though I have acne scars, without the matte look that other foundations create. It looks like I am not wearing anything but gives my skin a great glow. I also love that it is natural and made of minerals and protects my skin from the sun. I am too lazy to wash my face at night, so its great that Bare Minerals is so good for the skin that you can actually sleep in it! It improved the condition of my skin. You need to use Mineral Veil over it for a finished look. I love the whole Bare Essentials line.
Finally! This is what I've been searching for.

Reviewer: Surcie,
I'm very fair-skinned, but I have a lot of redness on my chin and around my nose. My cheeks tend to be dry, but I'm prone to acne around my chin and jaw line. And I live in a hot and humid climate. Finding the "perfect" foundation for me is a tall order. But this is it!

It makes my skin look flawless and healthy, but I don't feel like I'm wearing a foundation mask. Wearing it actually reduces the redness of my chin (not just conceals it) AND it actually helps clear up my acne!! I know this sounds too good to be true. . .

Two things to keep in mind: You'll want to use a cream-based concealer for under your eyes. Also, if your skin is dry or has dry areas (like mine does), be sure to moisturize before using the foundation. After all, it's a powder. And without some sort of moisture component, powders tend to emphasize dry spots or wrinkles.
Best Foundation

This is the best foundation! I was tired of my regular liquid foundation melting after only two or three hours (I have combination/oily skin). This foundation stays put and puts up with oil and humidity (it does not, however, stand up against 100 degree + weather). Still, I will never use another foundation.

When is question of what shade, I recommend getting to a Sephora store and having an associate help you. If that is not convenient, and you are debating between shades, I recommend picking the lighter shade. I was surprised how dark the Medium Beige shade was, even when I apply it lightly. The Light shade is suitable for most Asian woman (like me) and Caucasian women who are not extremely fair.
Better than any other make-up out there; even for uneven skin.

I have been using this make-up for more than 5 years now and I love it! I've read other reviews where people with occasional breakouts and dry skin have trouble - but I have all these problems and have had no trouble with this make-up. There is a key though - I feel you must use moisturizer before this (or any other) makeup. For those with uneven skin or breakouts, no makeup is going to look good if you don't put on moisturizer first. This make-up is a foundation - but you must give IT a foundation to work with.

I also agree with the other reviewers that you should use the make-up brushes that are designed to work with this foundation. The small brush that is used to cover up flaws is a MUST! And the results are truly amazing. It covers up any redness, breakouts, dark circles under my eyes and unevenness in my skin tone from years of acne as a youth. But with this make-up, I have beautiful skin.

I am also very pleased with this make-up because I have used many of the high-end, department store brands and the fragrances they contain actually hurt my eyes! This make-up has never given me any problems. I will never go back to liquid make-up!
Amazing, my fair skin rejoices!

I've never been able to wear foundation, for many reasons. The main one being for the fact I am so fair, and anything I put gave me an orange face. I looked like an oompa-Loompa (really not a good look unless you are in Willy Wonka's Chocolate factory.) Also, I'm lazy; I don't want to fool with anything that's complicated and messy when it comes to my mourning routine. My face does have a lot of ruddiness in it, so I was looking for foundation that would smooth out the redness and not make me look orange and still be relatively fuss free. Bare Escentuals was exactly was I was looking for! I don't want to sound like the infomercial, but this foundation is a miracle worker for me. No orange look, redness smoothed out, and totally fuss free, easy to apply, will stay on and not rub off (maybe a bit on the cell phone, but you know, nothing is perfect in this world) I stand by this foundation, cause it really has delivered for me. The "fair" which is the lightest of the shades is perfect, not dark at all, and no more "lines of demarcation!!" Woohoo!

My advice with this foundation is to make sure you do apply some sort of moisturizer on before, it helps the make-up to stay on the face, without my beloved SPF lotion the powder would just never stay on my face. (I have super dry skin) It's probably a good idea for everyone, dry skin or not, to wear some sort of moisturizer before putting this makeup on. Another point to add, the powder can get a bit messy (I've had to dust off my shirt lol) but the simple solution was to put less on the brush and tap off the excess. Problem solved. One more point to add, it's a good idea to buy the bare escentuals brush for this make-up. I like the "Handy Buki Brush" about $20.00 on its own. It covers well! Also the "Maximum Coverage Concealer Brush" ($20.00) because it really helps with under the eyes, and those little problem spots. I know it seems a bit pricy, but for me, it was worth it. The brushes last for a long time, going on two years now. Cleaning them is not hard. Soap and water then air dry. Overall, this is the best makeup I've found, the perfect fit for me, and I'm not ever going back to anything else.
GREAT MAKEUP
