from a doctor's point of view

So many of my patient's forget that you have to feel good to look good.
This book helps to show you how to do both and is a very fun read, and that comes from a physician who sees complications and disorders of the mind and body every day.
May take away some of my business... but it's worth it to me if folks finally get the message that beauty is not skin deep. Of course looking good does help the psyche as well... hey, maybe there really is a beauty-brain loop here! WELL DONE! |
An Extraordinary Book!

The Beauty Prescription is an extraordinary book! While it does a remarkable job explaining how to enhance your outer beauty, it is unique on its focus on cultivating the inner beauty waiting to be released in us all. Written by a renowned psychiatrist and a nationally recognized dermatologist, this book is a must read for those who want to maximize their beauty inside and out. I loved this book and enthusiastically recommend it to all of my friends.
For you -- AND your daughter!

Reviewer: T. Masington, California
I have been buying this book for friends and sending a note suggesting that they read it with their young daughters. It's an energizing take on beauty's ability to radiate from the inside -- with a refreshingly honest allowance for the fact that girls and women want to look as good as the advertisements that surround them. Unlike the ads though, this book's formula for beauty is a true, realistic formula for success. The values these two doctors prescribe will enhance any girl's self-esteem and teach them how to develop their own, attainable definition of what it means to be beautiful.
Every Woman's book!

I found this book thoroughly entertaining and informative. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it is not geared solely to women who read fashion magazines. It has great appeal even for those of us who trip in high heeled shoes and own only one purse. It is filled with excellent practical tips and is written in such a witty, easy to read manner that it reads like a novel. It is contagious. I hope the authors write more books!
Informative, interesting, and inspirational!

When I first picked up the book I figured that I would thumb through it, read the sections that appealed to me, and forget the rest. I started at the beginning and read it all the way through. The stories were captivating and the ingredient information was especially helpful. The premise of the book is new and refreshing. This book made me feel more optimistic and motivated about myself and my direction in life. It is wonderful to acknowledge how we are all beautiful in our own way.

This is the perfect book because it gives you easy and practical ways to improve your general appearance which certainly improves your general mood. My wife read the book cover to cover and has recommended it to all of her friends. She especially loved the "beauty buddies" section, which reminded us how friendships are important in the connection to our look and well being. Perfect book! I suggest all husbands buy this for their wives.

This book is practical and educates me on taking better care of my skin so my inner beauty shines through! I love the appendix of great products that are sure to fit my price range. I'm definitely giving this book to my beauty buddies! |

The Perfect Formula

Reviewer: Michele Howe, MI
Take the professional expertise of two female physicians (both of whom are wives and mothers) and you come up with the perfect formula for understanding and developing beauty (from the inside out). Dr. Debra Luftman, a Beverly Hills dermatologist and Dr. Eva Ritvo, a South Beach psychiatrist, became fast friends many years ago and have developed an effective synergy as they educate and counsel women from all walks of life on matters of looking their best and living optimally. With Dr. Debra offering dermatological advice on the one hand and Dr. Eva offering emotional and behavioral counsel on the other hand, readers will find themselves in good hands indeed.
Expect to be surprised throughout the pages of this comprehensive resource on all things pertaining to caring for one's outer person as well as developing a life coaching plan for living with intention. In all honesty, these physician friends will answer every question inquiring women want to know about making the most of what they have been given in the (talents/gifts/passions) department to impact their communities and families and friends. This isn't a book about just looking pretty...this text will challenge women to look beyond the mirror into the heart and soul of making their lives meaningful ones.

I don't spend a lot of time on these issues, as I have my hands full managing kids, household, career, marriage - I purchased this book at the recommendation of a friend who had found it very valuable, and whose opinion I find trustworthy - I'm so pleased and grateful to have read it, which I did cover to cover - I found the authors engaging, candid, genuine, and their book informative, accessible and inspiring - most importantly, I found the book credible and feel the authors really know of what they speak - the book is informed by their life experiences as wives, mothers, physicians and friends and I found so many of their messages uplifting. A book I will be recommending and sharing with my community of friends. Job well done, and a great service to women everywhere, Debra and Eva!!!

MADE ME FEEL 10 YEARS YOUNGER JUST BY READING THE BOOK!!!
THESE AUTHORS HAVE FIGURED IT OUT! AND ACTUALLY EXPLAINED IT SO WE CAN UNDERSTAND...WELL WRITTEN AND INTERESTING. WHAT A CONCEPT.....
GOT TO FEEL GOOD ON THE INSIDE TO LOOK GOOD ON THE OUTSIDE. IT'S ABOUT FRIENDSHIPS, LIFESTYLES, AND YEA - MAYBE A LITTLE BOTOX AND DERM ABRASION.
INNER AND OUTER BEAUTY ARE SO INTERTWINED SO I GUESS IT MAKES SENSE THAT A SHRINK AND A DERM PUT IT TOGETHER. BUT IT WAS TWO WOMEN DOCTORS THAT GOT THIS MESSAGE ACROSS... BRAVO!

Finally, putting it all together

What a great combination these two docs are! They are the perfect prescription to help EVERY WOMAN learn to appreciate all of her assets and NOT TO FOCUS on her flaws. I feel a million times better about myself and am learning to remember to try to project that inner happiness because I know it makes me not only look better, but feel better too! Not everyone's lucky enough to be on Dr. Debi & Dr. Eva's patient list so many thanks to these talented, intelligent, insightful (and beautiful!) women for sharing their knowledge and experience with us fortunate readers.
